Halladay Inn? Not for a while.

Just heard that Toronto Blue Jays' stellar starting pitcher Roy Halladay will be out of action indefinitely after breaking a bone in his leg last night. Texas leftfielder Kevin Mench stung a line drive off of Halladay's shin in the third inning of the Rangers' eventual 7-6 victory.

That really stinks for Halladay, as he was in line to be the American League's starting pitcher in next week's All-Star game in Detroit. No doubt, it's a bitter disappointment for him after spending much of last season on the disabled list. The American League's 2003 Cy Young Award winner will be out at least a month, possibly longer.

Halladay also is on my fantasy baseball team roster. I'm already struggling to stay around the .500 mark. With his injury I'm likely to drop even further in the standings. I went out and picked up the Athletics' Joe Blanton as a free agent. Hopefully he can help to stem the tide a bit while Halladay recovers. Blanton has been quite good over the past month.
