A Treasure Rove of Trouble

After 2+ years of little investigatory progress on what may be one of the biggest political bombshells - and blunders - to come our way in a long, long, long time, it seems that the proverbial caca is about to hit the fan for the embattled Bush administration.

And all I have to say is, "It's about damn time!"

This administration has gotten away with - literally - murder over the last 4+ years (How many innocent civilians have been taken down in Iraq so far? How many valiant young soldiers have been cut down in the prime of their lives? How many fathers and mothers have been taken away - permanently - from their families? All for a cause that was built on nothing but lies, arrogance and blind ambition. But I digress...). It's an administration that John Dean, former White House counsel under Richard Nixon, recently labeled, "Worse than Watergate", in his book of the same title. I don't think there's any question of that.

But the thought that one of our own government officials - and allegedly one who sits at or near the highest level within our government - would purposely "out" a covert CIA agent for political gain is not only appalling. Nor is it just a treasonous act. Nor is it just a felony, punishable by up to ten years in federal prison. In fact, it's a high crime against every single American and akin to what happened in this country on 9/11/01.

Yes, folks, it was a form of terrorism, especially so for the uncloaked CIA agent herself, her family and friends, and every single contact or source that she ever developed during the course of her clandestine career. It also seriously endangered the ability of the CIA to engage future sources of information critical to this country's security and the safety of every American. Who would want to help us out if the threat of disclosure hangs over every interaction between a CIA spook and his or her covert sources? I thought this "War on Terror" was supposed to REQUIRE greater information gathering and access to terror cells in order to combat the growing threat to our safety. Well, apparently someone forgot to tell that to the Bush administration moron who decided that political expediency was more important than the safety of every American.

All Americans should be outraged by this. All Americans should demand that the person responsible is held fully accountable. And all Americans should demand that the Bush administration come clean. I just hope we don't allow this corrupt group of leaders to shovel everything under the rug like they've done so many times before. After all, they've already duped us into an unfounded war that has taken the lives of close to 2,000 Americans and countless innocent civilians.

When will the madness stop? I don't know. But I do hope that we're finally witnessing the beginning of the end. It's about damn time!!
